[WORKSHOP 1]: Expressive Portrait Drawing

About the workshop: In this 2 day of workshop artist, Zin Lim will share all the techniques and rules in his unique style direction of expressive portrait drawing in charcoal. Beginner to Advanced, we welcome any professional level of artists. Workshop contents include; lectures, multiple demonstrations, timely feedback, and your exercise time from the best reference photos of Zin Lim's selection. This workshop will expand your approach to drawing portraits, and renovate your art journey to find your unique stylization for art. 

[LOCATION]: Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers

The meeting room is on the Podium 4 level of Conrad Abu Dhabi Hotel at Etihad Towers, standing testimony to dramatic sculptural forms and spectacular design, the hotel is bordered by the sea on one side and the fashionable Corniche on the other. Located 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport, the hotel is within easy reach of many of the city's famous attractions.

Day 1 (August 2nd)

8-9 am Welcome reception. 1st coffee break for greeting.

9am-12pm: Workshop.

12-1 pm: Lunch (We serve at the hotel restaurant).

1-3 pm: Workshop.

3-4 pm: 2nd Coffee break for the rest of the art talks.

Day 2 (August 3rd)

Day 3 (Online. September 3rd, 9-11 pm, GMT+4: Dubai time zone or the other time works better for you)

9-11 pm: Figure Drawing Club (online)

* It is an online drawing-along event. You will watch Zin's demo, ask questions, and draw together with artists from the globe.

Fee: 650usd (about 2,388aed)

Includes: vat, tax, 4 sets of coffee/snacks, & 2 days of set lunches at the hotel restaurant.

[MATERIAL]

• Drawing pad: One from below.

- Strathmore Drawing Pad, 300 series, medium surface. 14"x17" or larger.

- (Recycled) Strathmore drawing pad, 400 series, medium surface. 14”x17" or larger.

- Strathmore drawing pad, 400 series, medium surface. 14”x17" or larger.

- Charcoal drawing pads. 12"x16" or larger (any brand).

* No 'New Sprint', 'Bristol', or anything that has a 'smooth' surface, They don't work well with charcoal.

• Willow or/and Vine (soft or extra-soft) charcoal sticks (any brand)
• HB charcoal pencil: 'General' brand (if you don't have 'General' brand, vine charcoal medium or hard or Nitram hard is OK.
• Kneaded eraser.
• Blending Stumps or paper rolled/sharpened like a pencil's shape.

Optional materials

• Utility Knife.
• Portable easel. (or you can put your drawing pad on the table)
• Drawing Board: any wooden, plastic, or thick paper board for backing a drawing pad.
• (Workable) Fixative: If you want to save your work for your portfolio. (Spray outdoor only)
• Pencil Extender: in case your pencil is too short.
• Sandpaper Block or any smooth Sandpaper.

Ticket

• 100% refund for your cancellation 30 days before the event date.
• 90% refund for your cancellation by 2 weeks before the event date.
• Due to limited spot reservation of the event venue please understand there's no refund within 2 weeks before the event starts.
• 100% refund in the case of Zin Studio's decision to event cancellation at any time.
• You can gift tickets to your friends. Just send your e-ticket to your friend and let us know the friend's name for our guest list.
