About 'Nomad' Series
 
노마드 시리즈는 하나의 이미지에서 출발하지만, 언제나 예측할 수 없는 방향으로 흘러갑니다. 어떤 그림은 강한 인상을 준 사진에서 시작되고, 또 어떤 그림은 특별한 계획 없이 그어진 몇 개의 붓질에서 시작되기도 합니다. 그렇게 시작된 그림은 마치 긴 여행처럼 이어집니다.여행에도 여러 방식이 있듯, 그림을 그리는 과정도 매번 다릅니다. 때로는 치밀하게 계획을 세우고 출발하기도 하고, 때로는 항공권과 숙소만 정해둔 채 즉흥적인 흐름에 몸을 맡기기도 합니다. 하지만 어떤 방식이든, 실제 여행처럼 그림도 늘 예상과는 다르게 흘러갑니다.어제 그린 것을 오늘 덮고, 오늘의 붓자국에서 또 다른 의미를 찾아 이어갑니다. 가끔은 이미 완성했다고 생각한 그림에서 다시 놀고 싶어지는 부분이 보이기도 합니다. 이 놀이는 몇 시간 만에 끝나기도 하고, 몇 년 후에야 다시 손대게 되기도 합니다. 그때그때 달라지는 내 취향, 감정, 기술들을 자유롭게 반영하는 것이 이 시리즈의 중심입니다.언제까지 그릴까? 더 이상 손댈 수 없을 때까지. 왜 이렇게 그릴까? 재미있기 때문입니다. 단순히 결과물보다 그리는 과정 자체가 즐겁고, 그래서 계속 그리게 됩니다.
 
The Nomad series often begins with a striking reference image, or sometimes simply with a few random brushstrokes. From there, the painting unfolds like a long journey—unpredictable and ever-changing.Just like traveling, the process can vary. Some works start with a clear plan, much like a trip carefully mapped out in advance. Others are more spontaneous—like booking only a flight and hotel, then seeing where the road leads. But no matter how well things are planned, the experience rarely goes exactly as expected. That unpredictability becomes part of the work.One day’s marks may be covered by the feelings of the next. A shape that was once accidental can take on new meaning and grow into something unexpected. Even after calling a piece finished, I often return to it later, discovering something playful or worth changing. This process might last a few hours or stretch over several years.The series reflects shifts in my mood, taste, and techniques over time. I try to let those changes show up honestly in the work.How long do I keep going with a piece? Until I physically can't continue.Why do I paint this way? Because it’s fun.It’s the joy of the process that keeps me coming back.
