Anyone replaced their tv remote with an iphone app yet? I'm constantly losing mine down the back of the sofa, or the dog runs off with it. I'm thinking about just ditching the physical remote altogether and using an app on my phone instead. Seems like a good solution, but I worry about how well it actually works. Does it drain the battery life on your phone? Is it annoying to switch between the remote app and other apps? Let me know if you've made the switch and if it's worth it. I'm tired of looking for the blasted thing every time I want to change the channel!

I actually switched to using a remote app on my phone a while ago, and honestly, I haven't looked back! It took a little while to get used to, but now it's way more convenient than a regular remote. I like having the keyboard on my phone to search for shows quickly, and the touchpad is pretty smooth for navigating menus. Battery life hasn't been a big issue for me, but I do try to close the app when I'm not using it. If you want to Get started, there are plenty of free apps available - just search for "universal tv remote" in the app store.
